Craftiness

This weekend was full of crafty activities for Addison. First we went to the Children's Museum and had tons of fun painting, climbing on the fire truck display, crawling through the nests and burrows display, and making a tractor out of recycled materials with Daddy. She had tons of fun, except for when a little girl snatched the toy ant out of her hands at one of the displays -- she talked about that "naughty little girl" the rest of the day, and even wanted to know later if we had video of the ant theft.

Brian has been wanting to get Addi a birdhouse for a while now, so one day we went to Michael's and she picked out her favorite style. I kept telling her that we were getting a birdhouse and she didn't understand why we wouldn't be able to go inside of it -- she wanted to visit the birds inside of their house. She also got to pick out all of the paint colors for the birdhouse: blue, green and magenta. We then painted the entire birdhouse with solid colors, and later I added some shadows and dragonflies. We will mount it outside the house soon with pics to follow :)

Noni brought Addi some little mini-buckets, sprinkles, and tweezers. The idea was for her to pick up different sprinkles with the tweezers and sort them as she chose into the various buckets. Addi was awesome at this game, as she has fabulous fine motor skills. Some of the sprinkles break apart easily, so we might have to start using beads instead, but the exercise was a hit all the same.

Addi also got to spend some time running like a crazy person through the hundreds of bubbles that her automatic bubble maker created. Addi loves nothing more than popping bubbles by waving both arms like little propellers as she jumps around. She was absolutely covered with bubble goo by the time she was done.

And finally, the Addi quote of the weekend:

We were out to breakfast with Nana and Zia at a fabulous place downtown called Mona's. Addi was enjoying a huge pancake and I was describing my breakfast to her -- crab cakes, poached eggs with spinach and a hollandaise sauce. Just then Brian asked for a bite of my meal and I obliged. Addi watched on and then looked at me and said:

"Mommy . . . did you give Daddy crabs?"
