The Graduate

Addi is done with preschool! She officially graduated with a ceremony and everything. At first Brian and I thought the whole graduation ceremony thing was a bit over the top, but in the end it was adorable and pulled at the heartstrings a bit. She and her classmates sang 4 songs for the crowd and then accepted their "diplomas."
I am so glad that we ended up putting her in the preschool that we did. With her ideational dyspraxia and over/under stimulation-related SPD, a teacher led preschool program was the best possible fit for Addison. Every day that she had school her behavior was great and she was much more focused throughout the day. She also loved the schedule that they adhered to in class -- washing hands, circle time, craft time, snack time, outdoor time, etc. She would tell me every school day what the schedule was and it comforted her to know what was going to happen next. She thrives with a schedule -- something I have tried but can't seem to give her here at home -- not if I am going to fit in studying and homework plus all the other activities we have going on. I am just so glad that with all she has had to work through (speech therapy and occupational therapy), she will be very prepared for kindergarten this fall.

After the graduation we spent a bit of time playing Angry Birds on Noni's iPad (Addi is a pro and Maren is starting to pick it up) and then we went to dinner at the restaurant of Addi's choice, California Pizza Kitchen.
We are so glad that Addi had such a great 2 1/2 years of preschool and now she will be moving up to her big girl school (that is what we call if every time we pull into our neighborhood and see her future elementary school). It will be so fun to walk her to school every day with our neighborhood friends. We are so proud of what she has had to accomplish and we can't wait to see what the future holds for our amazing Addi!
