Twice in 2 weeks

Long time no blog . . . or as our Canadian neighbors from across the street would say "Long time no blog, eh?" I have finished final exams for the summer and have been enjoying my short break until next semester when, between Addi and me, we will be busy 7 days a week! I figure we have a back log of pics so it is time for some tales of the Ickler kinder.

A while back we endured 2 very glutenous trips to the legendary White Fence Farm in only 2 weeks!!! The first of the 2 trips was undertaken because our aforementioned neighbors had heard of the Farm, but had never been there. We preceded our nerdy game night with some fried chicken, corn fritters and an array of vegetable-filled, yet surprisingly fattening side salads. We always try to tire out the kids before a game night so they will go down for bed without a fight later. The kids loved the playgrounds and animal petting area.
Horse rides come with kisses when you ride with these two.
Our evil plan to quiet the kids while we adults enjoy some conversation includes oreo cookies and a ridiculously annoying Disney movie.
Our second trip to the farm was for my Nana's birthday. We couldn't very well deny her on her birthday, so we again shoved our faces full of fried goods and fat -- yummmm!

This particular trip included table-side Shiatsu massage, lucky Maren.
Maren doing her best impression of a Boxer dog. She loves these crazy dog statues. During both visits to the Farm Maren and I had to leave our table no less than 5,000 times so she could pet, hug, kiss and generally love on the dog.
Addi the animal lover. Maren wanted to feed the animals too, but I just couldn't stomach the inevitable fact that her mange and goat/cow slobbered hand would immediately end up completely in her mouth. So we chased baby bunnies around the grounds -- she can't catch those little suckers, but she didn't know that:)

Is it weird that not only have I never been to White Fence Farm, I have never even heard of it? I feel like I am missing out. Love Maren's face with that dog statue :-)

Katy, you grew up in CO, what is wrong with you?! They have been here for over 40 years and make fantastic fried chicken and all of these yummy sides like homemade cottage cheese, kidney bean salad, beet salad, cole slaw and corn fritters. They were featured on the Food Network recently too! Go already!
