Halloween

So, I am the worst holiday documenter in the whole wide world. We celebrated Halloween from a friend's house down the street and I managed to remember baby food, spare dipes, extra clothes, hats mittens, etc. but I forgot the stupid camera and then was too lazy to go get it when I realized my mistake. So I figure I will post a description of the festivities and everyone can just picture Addi in her costume from our Halloween card!

We enjoyed some food and conversation with our friends, The Allens, by the fire pit in their front yard, and then it was time for trick-or-treating. We leave our candy with them so Brian and I can both go with Addi, and the little ones from the neighborhood don't get jipped.

Right as we were leaving we saw Addi's BFF Maggie and her parents, so we joined forces and set out for some candy. Even though the girls were totally jazzed about Halloween this year, and the prospect of total strangers giving them candy with no strings attached was exhilarating, they were still a bit slow in their methods. We parents would be standing at the bottom of someone's driveway chatting away and 5 minutes later we would look up and realize that the girls were giggling and dancing on the porch and hadn't even rung the bell yet. There was also a particularly fascinating giant blow-up cat inside a pumpkin that they refused to part from until they had each had a chance to pet it. Three year olds can be so silly, frustrating and painfully adorable. It was hard to see all the tween girls dressed in slutty costumes (seriously, one girl was wearing fishnets!), talking in "like" speak about their respective boyfriends and realize that one day those girls will be classmates and maybe even friends with my innocent little noodle. Now that's a scary thought!

The girls had a few fun quotes over the course of the night:

The girls rang the doorbell at one house and as the owner opened the door every other kid said,"Trick-or-Treat," and Addi wrapped her arm around Maggie's shoulder and said,"This is my best friend Maggie!"

At another door the candy giver complimented Addison on her alligator costume and Maggie said,"Uh, no. She is a dinosaur!" -- as she looked at him like he was a complete moron.

It was a fabulous night and the girls enjoyed themselves immensely. Maren slept in her BOB the whole time wrapped up like a little mummy in her blankets. We can't wait for next year when Mare can trick-or-treat too!
