Addi has been receiving swimming lessons for the past 3 weeks, and graduated tonight from Level 1 class. We really love having her attend a dedicated swim school, called strangely enough, SafeSplash Swim School. It is better than the local rec center for several reasons, most namely because the instructors only teach lessons. They aren't part time life guards that give occasional lessons. Also, the students graduate to the various levels at their own pace, since every kid picks up the skills differently. Here are the requirements to graduate from Level 1:
Happily join their class
Get into the pool up to their necks
Dip both ears in the pool
Lay head/ears back in the water
Attempt to blow bubbles
Leave the steps with the instructor
Allow water to be poured on their head
Wear goggles, swim cap and fins
Put their face in the water
Addi moves on to Level 2A where she will learn to tummy float and back float with help. We dress Addi in pair of board shorts and a Roxy rash shirt - she may not be the best student in swim school, but she is definitely the coolest, as seen below.
