1 month!

We couldn't post this until now b/c we have had problems with our internet access at home, but better late than never, I guess.

I can't believe that Maren is already 1 month old! She is a fabulous little person. So far her temperament has been so sweet and laid back -- the only time she cries is when she is hungry, and then she goes from docile to raging in under 1 second. She is a great little breast-feeder (we needed a visit from the lactation consultant to correct some latch issues, but we are on track now) and would eat 24/7 if she could. I have tried to give her a bink to satiate her sucking needs, but most of the time she gets mad and gags on it. After about 6pm every night she cluster feeds until 11 or 12. She makes the funniest noises when she eats -- she literally sounds like a feral baby pig. Needless to say the kid is getting large! I don't know exactly how much she weighs, but she is visibly bigger and chubbier.

Maren is so curious and already has some favorite things to gaze at throughout the day. Her favorites include: our faces, her brown and white dog pics in her room, her funky mobile, and the black railing of our bed. She is a very vocal baby and coos and sighs often in her sweet little voice.

Maren still sleeps in our bed every night. We got her a "Snuggle Nest" though b/c we are both deep sleepers and couldn't get any rest from worrying about smothering her all night. The nest is great b/c it has a rigid wall around the baby's head to prevent rollovers and a little night light so we can check on her without lighting up the whole room, plus it fits perfectly in between our pillows so she is still super close-- so far she is very comfy in it. I plan on using it to transition her to her crib eventually so that maybe someday I can spoon my husband again : )

We can't wait to watch Mare grow and learn more about her. We are all so happy that she is a part of our lives and we love her so much. Like Addi said the other day,"I yuv Baby Mawen, she is so cute."
